Customs, fan-made figures and intellectual property
Customizing is a big part of collecting, and it has a home here. These rules keep it honest for buyers and fair to the people who own the characters.
What you can sell
- Official figures, new or used, that you own.
- Altered official figures: a real figure you repainted, kitbashed or gave new parts. The listing has to say it's a custom.
- Original designs: your own characters and sculpts, as figures or files.
- Fan-made likenesses of real people (an actor, musician or athlete): mark "It looks like a real person" when you list. Buyers see Fan-made likeness, not endorsed, a person checks each one before it goes live, and the person or their team can ask us to remove it. Never say it's official, signed, authorized or endorsed by them.
- Fan-made characters: your own version of a character someone else owns. These are labeled Fan-made, not official for buyers. The owner can still ask us to remove them, and we will.
What you can't sell
- Bootlegs, counterfeits or knockoffs presented as the real thing.
- Recasts: copies made from a mold of someone else's sculpt, official or fan-made.
- Files ripped or extracted from official products or games.
- Customs or fan-made pieces that use official logos, packaging or box art, or call themselves official, authentic, genuine or licensed.
If you own a character, sculpt or trademark, or a figure uses your likeness
Send a notice below. We review notices quickly, usually within 2 business days, remove listings that use your work without permission, and tell the seller. Your notice needs to name the work you own, link the listings, and include the statements and signature the law asks for.
You can also email our designated agent: ip@publicfigure.world (Copyright Agent, Public Figure World LLC).
If your listing was removed
You'll get a notification with a link to send a counter-notice. If you believe it was a mistake (for example, it's your own design or you have permission), tell us why. We forward it to the person who complained. If they don't tell us they've filed a court action within 10 business days, we can put your listing back.
Repeat takedowns
Every takedown that sticks is a strike on your shop. After 3 strikes your shop is paused. A strike comes off if the listing is put back after a counter-notice.
